Sitting at the Amsterdam airport I finally realized that my great summer adventure was coming to a close, I would soon be returning home back to the familiar rock that I currently call home. I can’t help but feel a bit sad because my trip has been absolutely awesome. My last stop – Amsterdam, was absolutely amazing. I love the Dutch mentality and open minded way of life. The city is beautiful and has a laid back feeling about it unlike some other major European cities – and no I don’t think that it has anything to do with the tolerance of cannabis. Actually the Dutch don’t really partake in all that Amsterdam is famous for – i.e. the girls in windows and the weed. And after a few days there these things just fade into the background and the real Amsterdam comes forward. Absolutely gorgeous canals lined with stunning houses and House-Boats, Bikes, Dutch cheese, Street parties, Strong feelings of a united nation, Beer on terraces and more bikes. I went around quite a bit having visited 11museums (thanks to the fantastic Museumkaart mostly for free!) and the parks and cheese shops J. The tram system is fantasaatic and has been and will continue to be my favourite mode of transport – as the bikes that they all use since it’s such a flat and well tempered country. The street parties were amazing as were the relaxed lazy mornings in. It was an absolutely awesome experience with friends.
So here is a short overhaul of the entire trip so far:
42days, 11cities, 4047photos taken, 15beers tasted, 7pommes frittes purchased, countless waffles consumed.
This truly has been an absolutely awesome trip with loads of lessons learnt and a lot of fantastic people met.
